Just in case you're curious......

Thought some of you might like to see where I'm off to tomorrow.
A little known part of France, where you get amazing scenery, historical architecture, and really, really good cheese and wine!

Many of you will be familiar with the area of the Dordogne, but less familiar with the departement of the Lot which is right next door. The location for many battles during the 100 Years War, the region is crossed by several rivers (including the Lot, from which it gets it's name). Created from part of the province of Languedoc, it is one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution. It also forms part of the historical region of Quercy (many people still refer to the region as that).

My parents have owned a house in this region for almost 20 years now. We started off first in a little village called Grezes - it had 100 inhabitants on the electoral roll, but even that was too busy (mainly because of the neighbours and the main road at the bottom of our garden!). About 5 years ago (I think!) they moved to the other side of the departement to a tiny little hamlet, composed of 6 houses (only two of which are lived in all year round!). The hamlet is perched on the top of a limestone plateau known as the Causses and we have 360 degree views of the valley - absolutely amazing! And the sunsets have to be seen to be believed.........
So, this is where I'm off to tomorrow for a bit of peace and quiet!!! Anyone jealous yet??
